Does your Mexico or Canada-origin product qualify for preferential duty rates?
An HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) code is a 10-digit number used by US Customs and Border Protection to classify imported goods. It determines what import duty rate applies to your shipment, whether any trade restrictions apply, and whether you qualify for preferential rates under free trade agreements. Incorrect HTS classification is one of the most common — and costly — customs compliance errors.
Section 301 tariffs are additional import duties imposed on goods manufactured in China, ranging from 7.5% to 25% or higher. They are added on top of the standard MFN duty rate. TariffIQ shows you whether your HTS code is subject to Section 301 and the combined duty rate, so you can accurately calculate landed cost before importing.
Section 122 imposes a baseline 10% global tariff on most imports into the United States. USMCA-qualifying goods from Mexico and Canada are generally exempt. TariffIQ flags which of your products are subject to Section 122 and shows whether your country of origin provides an exemption.
Yes. TariffIQ shows applicable preferential duty rates including USMCA. If your product originates in Mexico or Canada and meets the rules of origin requirements, it may qualify for a zero or reduced duty rate — displayed alongside the standard MFN rate and any Section 122/301/232 applicability.
HTS codes are used for imports into the United States, administered by the USITC. Schedule B numbers are used for US exports, administered by the Census Bureau. They share the first 6 digits but differ at the 7–10 digit level. TariffIQ focuses on HTS import classification to help you determine your duty liability.
TariffIQ reflects current USITC, CBP, and USTR schedules and is updated to reflect official policy changes. Given how frequently trade policy has shifted — Section 301 amendments, Section 232 scope, and the Section 122 global tariff — staying current is essential. We flag recently changed rates so you always work with accurate data.
